Exact repro of the unique Hood Spring used on 71-73 Mustang equipped with the functional Ram Air system. This spring has the correct flat oval wire spring with proper tension unique to Ram Air hoods. Finished in correct zinc phosphate and oil, 7 inch length, and USA-made! This is a very unique spring that uses a flat oval wire that is not in common use and the material cost is 4x that of normal wire of a similar size. Costly special tooling was required to correctly wind the wire to have the flats lay consistently across the outside and inside diameters, This is one expensive spring to produce! Produced using ASTM A401 CrSi carbon alloy commonly used for engine valve springs and suspension coil springs. Note that while the springs are zinc phosphate coated the spring steel material did not take the coating as is typically seen of zinc phosphate so the spring has a slightly red tint to the darkened steel. If you have a NACA hood, but do NOT have the ram air chamber, vacuum actuators and the rest of the ram air parts hanging under your hood, these are NOT the right springs and may damage your hood.
