These Decals were applied on the chrome valve covers used on some Solid Lifter 289-4V HiPo engines. Some of the cars leaving the factory had them, and some did not. There were 2 different designs and, depending on the month of production and what was on the shelf at the time, engines came out of the factory with either none, Type A or Type B. Type A has the HIGH PERFORMANCE writing with the popular checkered flags on either side like the decal used on the air cleaner. Type B has the COBRA POWERED writing with 271 HORSEPOWER below it. Folks could buy the chrome valve covers from the Ford parts department as a dress up option for any 289, but they would not have had any decal on them.
