Replace that worn, leaky pump with a brand new unit! Ford 390 engines from 1967 to 1969 used a lighter duty water pump with smaller bearings, while a larger bearing "Heavy Duty" pumps were used on 1968-1970 428 CJ engines. Ford again revised the FE water pump in 1971 and that version was used in various applications until 1979. The heavy duty pumps we sell are new pumps modeled after the 1971+ design and will work perfectly on all FE Ford engines from 1965 to 1979 including the 67-69 390 and the 68-70 CobraJet.
