We sell 2 versions on the correct square base antenna for the 1968-1973 Mustang. They both attach to the fender using 4 sheet metal screws that get covered up by a square stainless cover so there is no threaded nut used at all. All that sticks out of the base is the black plastic support stem that the shaft sticks up from. The original Ford factory antennas used on the Mustang had a "tear drop" shaped black plastic support stem at the base (see picture). The Round Stem version is identical to the original antennas in every way EXCEPT that this plastic support stem is round (not tear drop). The shaft is the same and very few people could spot the difference, it does not have this subtle tear drop pattern, The Concours version does have the proper tear drop design and is exactly like the factory original. Both versions fit and work just as well so its a matter of how far you want to go to be 100% correct.
These "Square Base" antennas were originally used on all 69-70 Mustangs, and some late 1968 Mustangs and Cougars, but most 68s came with the "Round Base" versions.
